Believe in Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, pics included
I started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and have been diligent about doing it daily (minus one day of fence building, which burned more calories and worked more muscles than the dvd). I've been eating 1200 calories or less per day, trying not to eat processed foods, mostly fresh vegetables, whole grains and protein. I'm…

How important are cheat meals or cheat days?
I have recently started this weight loss journey. I have learned through many failed diets that weight loss and healthy living are about a lifestyle change. I have lost 19.6 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I have a shakeology meal replacement shake for breakfast every morning and I do enjoy that. I've also thought about having…

My Net calories are really low do they count or just the normal calories
I just looked at a report for my net calories (Cool gadget) and they seem really low. Is the 1200 + rule go for net calories or just make sure I'm eating 2000 + calories a day and count that as my number? I think I eat a lot but I also do a lot of Cardio (eight to nine 50 min sessions a week) for stress relief and it…

Cleansing
I just went to Panera Bread and in a sleep deprived state got some Mac and Cheese thinking it would be like my mother's Mac and Cheese, which I haven't had in a long time. Turns out it's actually shell and cheese. The cheese was also more of a sauce or cream than actual cheese. Needless to say, I was disappointed in my…

Daily Gratitudes and Accomplishments
Hi, I lost the gratitude thread that I liked to post on most days. Somehow it helps me to stay on track with this weight loss journey and my life in general to post, each day, what I'm grateful for and what I've accomplished. Especially when things are tough it gives me a lift to acknowledge myself for little achievements…

Parsnips, where have you been all my life?!
Just discovered the joys of parsnips. They were always one of those (to me) exotic vegetables that I'd seen in the grocery store but never tried. Saw a discussion on MFP recently about making parsnip fries so boldly marched into the produce aisle after work and bought a few and made them last night. Prepared with just a…

Who wants to do Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred with me?
I started today and was a little bit shocked at how out of shape I am :D towards the end I was groaning and gasping like I was about to keel over and die... Having my husband as a very amused audience didn't help any. Anybody want to do the challenge with me?? I plan on taking before and after pictures, very curious to see…

100 pounds GONE FOREVER!!!
My story is typical of a lot of people here. I think the last time I was a normal weight, I was 5 years old. After years of yo-yo dieting, struggling with infertility, 2 rounds of IVF, a twin pregnancy and several major depressions I had reached 256 pounds (I’m 5’5”). I started in March of 2011 just trying to eat less and…

Backpacking/Hiking
My husband and I are doing a 3 day backpacking trip. It should be about 55-60 miles, and 9,600 ft of elevation changes. Right now, I have a few more vanity pounds to lose, but nothing major (5-10lbs). Is it safe to eat a small (250-500) calorie deficit, or should I try to eat closer to my maintenance? Because I was going…

Coffee vs. (black) Tea (social anthropology)
Occasionally I go Out For Tea to a Tea Shop (which makes a bit of an "occasion" out of tea, as opposed to a store which sells only tea, or a shop which offers tea and sandwiches but no ambiance), and when I do, I have no trouble pairing sweets (and, of course, scones) with the tea. Day to day, however, I find that if I…
