Getting toned with small weights?
There are plenty of people on this board who seem to get great results with lifting and actually enjoy doing it. I have to admit I'm envious. I'd like to try it myself but the problem is, I have some spine issues and neurologist says I should not be lifting anything above 5-7kg. That does not sound like a lot, so should I…

SAHM Motivation Busted
I have been doing so well in the last 6 months since delivering our third kidlet. The first 4 months was just watching what I ate, the last 2 I have actually been hitting the gym 5-6 days a week. Then a viral sickness hits the household, and it all goes out the window. Now I'm struggling to get my motivation back. It's…

Are you afraid to weigh yourself?
I am afraid to weigh myself. I have been on this eating path for almost 3 weeks now. I feel leaner and my clothes fit better so I know that the scale should not matter. But I have been so good and usually eating under my calories. Sometimes really hungry too. Exercising a good deal. Not a lot because I have a bum knee so I…

Protein powder
My current protein shakes in the morning have 24g of protein, but 240 calories. To make them taste good I usually have to throw in a banana and PB2 or some other fruit. My breakfasts are then over 300 calories and it is just a drink. I have notices that some other powders have a lot less calories. What do you use, how much…

MFP Confessional
Forgive me MFP for I have sinned. After a particularly crappy shift at work which made me miss my second real food meal of the night, I came home and had 2 pizza pockets and 3 beers which put me over my calories by a bit more than a hundred. :(

Couple of questions from a newbie
Good evening all  Only five days in using MFP which I think is great - just wish I'd found it sooner. Using this combined with a pre-prepared eating plan that I add too. So here's my question - seen lots of posts re macros which I think (could be wrong) are the carb/fat/protein ratios - could someone please tell me…

Women Running Alone
I took up running about a year ago and quickly fell in love with it. As a beginner, I started running with my dog around my neighborhood in the mornings. For some reason, just a couple miles 5-6 times per week & I noticed such a difference. I built muscle, felt better, lost inches, etc. I live in an area with a long, cold…

Lifters: working out with muscle soreness?
I’m wondering whether it’s advisable to complete a lifting workout when you’re still experiencing muscle soreness. I sometimes find that one day of rest doesn’t give my body enough time to recover, and I suspect it’s best to wait it out, but I hate missing workouts (because I love lifting). What do you guys do? Thoughts?…

Eating Too Late After Work
I usually eat breakfast around 8:00, lunch around 12:00 and dinner when I get off of work. I work 3:00-9:00. I get one 10 minute break. I work in a PCI compliant area meaning food can only be consumed in break rooms. I don't like eating so late when I get home and I schedule breakfast and lunch around the time my son needs…

Should you eat back your calorie burned?
I've always been wanting to know if you should eat your exercise calories or not. I burned on a daily average of 400-500 calories when I workout and sometimes more depending on what I'm doing. I'm trying to lose weight, and it's happening but I'm always always hungry. Today I burned 579 and my iifym says I can eat 1738…

Eight Pounds in 6 Days? Any insight?
Okay. First some background. I've been losing weight pretty steadily since the beginning of February thanks to beginning to work out again and watching what I eat. Also, I'm on Wellbutrin, which curbs my appetite. I have an eating schedule because I work out quite a bit, and I usually try not to go over 1400 calories…

MFP won't sync steps to Fitbit
Hi.. I am very new to MFP.. I have synced my MFP to Fitbit but the steps are still showing 0. I have followed these steps - Log into your Fitbit Dashboard and unlink your MyFitnessPal connection from the Fitbit side of things. 63 lbs lost and I've kept it off for over 2 years!
I spent my 20's having children and being over weight. I have 4 children, ages 11,8,7 and 3. I struggled a lot with my self esteem. I was always thin growing up. When I got pregnant at 19 with my oldest, I had gained 53 Ibs by the time I had her! I lost most of the weight and gained some back, then became pregnant with my…
