May 2015 Running Challenge

Hi everyone. This is a continuation from the April (2015) Running Challenge which can be found at:
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10124017/april-2015-running-challenge/

Anyone can join in. New & Old. And if you found this thread late, you can join in at any time.
We have members that are total beginners all the way to marathon maniacs and beyond. We are a friendly and encouraging bunch.

Here the details from last month that applies here again.

Anybody want to join me for a running challenge? Set a goal here and mark it every day here. OPTIONAL: You can post your progress by creating a ticker at http://www.tickerfactory.com (If creating ones seems difficult, then don't let that stop you. Just type in your daily miles here.)

You can run, walk, or do treadmill. Just be consistent. I am setting a goal for 200 miles. However, don't let that worry you. Some can do 25, 50; whatever you like. We can help motivate each other. What do you say? if you are new to running, set a low goal.

You can set your goal now but wait until Friday May 1st to log your runs.

Also, don't forget to join our group which can be found at:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/21182-monthly-running-challange

There you will find lots of good info, and it's a place where everyone can talk to each other for further motivation. It's also a place to find help when there is a problem with this thread.

*******OPTIONAL TICKER*************
Info on tickers since I know there will be questions. Sign up for an account http://www.tickerfactory.com and create your ticker.
Then you need to update it after you do a run and post it here. Here is what you will need to do.

After setting up your ticker, you will need to make note of the weblink they give you so you can return. An example would be:

http://www.tickerfactory.com/exercise/w6K1EiX/ <<<< the last part will be a part of the image link (explained below) that will be supplied to you after you initially create your link.

When you return to TickerFactory with the weblink, go to your settings page. Make sure you type your pin in that you set when you created your ticker account.
Then where it says "Your current cumlative value, there is an add button. Just add what you just did and the cumlative value automatically changes. Then hit next.

Now after you added your new miles (or km's) to your ticker you need to post it here.

After you hit next, it will give you a bunch of codes suggesting on how to display your ticker.
Use the one at the bottom where it says Direct Image URL:

It will look something like:
http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png

To display that correctly in your post, make sure you place the img tags around that link. So it will look, (removing the spaces in the img tags):

[ img ] http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png [ /img ]

^^^^^^^ Don't forget to remove the spaces between the brackets. ^^^^^^^^^^

Some key things to pay attention to when posting your ticker.

1: Use the link that ends in .png
2. Remember the [ img] and [ /img] tags go in between the link
3. remove the spaces in the img tags before posting
4. YES, there is a / in the second /img tag

Good luck! And happy running (or walking or treadmilling, ect). If you have any trouble or have questions, please feel free to PM me.

Stan

I am going to try for 25 miles this month.
Beautiful weekend, but NO real running for me. Over the course of 3 days I have managed to bust my calorie budget in excess of 3,500 net - aggregate - at least a whole lb - who knows the real total because I have no idea all of the food I ate >:) after indulging in many high calorie, zero nutrition alcoholic drinks. HOWEVER, I would do it all over again for the wonderful time that was had: great weather, OUTSTANDING music at Memphis' Beale Street Music Fest, memorable time with a friend! Sometimes living life is more important than logging meals or meeting exercise goals :)

@Ohhim - great job on the pace and PR! Seems that what you are doing is working. I am in process of getting my weight back down to where I was when I got my last half PR. Have just 2 pounds to go. It is not a huge amount but I know I feel better and run better at the lower weight.
    @SonicDeathMonkey80 - love the pictures!
@Wendy1Fl - you had a great race and wow stopping to help someone too! Awesome! I am sure those tears were a result of some of the stress and pressure you were putting on yourself to just get through it and finish!
@labyars - It is definitely important to have fun and enjoy life without worrying about calorie counts and exercise once in a while! Sounds like you had a great time!

I met up with an older 'elite' runner I see sometimes on my trail and he invited me to run with him. I have been intimidated in the past to run with him because I was afraid of being too slow. We ran at his pace and chatted the entire time and it was great! The miles and time went by so fast and then it was time, unfortunately for me to go back to work. He was telling running and racing stories and I could have just kept going and listening.
    Date.......Miles......Total

@Ohhim - Congrats on going a full without bonking and making great time!

@isulo_kura - That soundspretty freaking insane! Glad you did not lose a shoe.

@Wendy1Fl - Super classy move helping her out! Sounds like you made a great run out of the lost time and had a more rewarding run in the end than if you had made your goal time.

3 mile easy run today. Probably the first easy run I've done. And yes, it actually was easy.

    5/2 - 6.07 miles
    5/4 - 3 miles

@wendy1f1 - Awesome job, for you and helping the lady! I wish I could explain your tears, but I can't even explain my own! I cry at commercials, weddings, graduations, baptisms, and the worst -- people meeting at the airport when they come out of the security and greet their friends/relatives -- yes, these are strangers! I've learned to just look straight ahead and not watch any reunions at airports! It's ridiculous. I haven't cried at a race before but that will probably happen too! I guess you were just so excited that you finished, and just full of emotion, so it just all came out! PS I probably would have cried if I saw you helping that lady, lol.

@shanaber - That's so cool that you got to run and hear some stories! A new running buddy!

@ohhim - love the pancake picture with the shoe next to it! Never heard of that place, but never been to PA, except to Amish country as a kid, to those restaurants where they serve family style and I just remember thinking "what is shoo fly pie and why would I eat that?"
