love handles .. An oxymoron.

Feel like I'm at a pretty nice weight/shape, maybe a few more lbs would be perfect. only thing is my love handles won't budge!! Just keep at it? Don't wanna get too skinny. Any tips on that? Or it just is what it is ?

  • It is genetic. When I started gaining weight back in college my body stored the fat in my love handles first. Therefore, the last fat to go while losing weight will be from the love handles. It's just the way it works. You just need to keep losing body fat. Also, make sure you are incorporating weight lifting to retain muscle while in a deficit.
  • It is part genetics and part body fat. You can reduce your body fat and that might slim them down but it is going to slim everything else down too. If you are looking to disguise the look of them them work on building muscles in your back and shoulders to make them proportionally smaller.
  • I don't see how "love handles" are an oxymoron.
  • My husband lost his love handles when his BMI got to about 23%, but he was doing resistance training along with weight loss.
