Having a small meal or snack every 3 to 4 hours keeps your metabolism cranking, so you burn more calories over the course of a day. Several studies have also shown that people who snack regularly eat less at mealtime.

Enjoying six small meals a day should do the trick; keep them around 300 calories each, or divide your usual day's calories by six.

it's really really not you know
Loving the disclaimer at the bottom of the first page of the article....
"This tool does not provide medical advice".
"This tool does not provide medical advice".
The metabolic advantage of eating often is miniscule...majoring in the minors. Do it if it helps you stay on track...but really, the "boost" is negligible and well within the margin of error.
Exercise however, and moving in general...that will "boost" your metabolism...proven.

Well, duh.
Hopefully this is true, or the weight would go piling on!

Snort!
Got thru the first 4 slides ... Exercise, Exercise, Hydrate, Caffeinate .. and was thinking .. hey, this seems legit. Then it fell apart. Except for slides 9 and 10, where they repeated Caffeinate.
So taking out the nonsense we have: Exercise, Exercise, hydrate, caffeinate, caffeinate, caffeinate. That's solid advice.

OMG, this has been debunked so much it is almost a "dead horse". Also, where is the common sense. If I eat 1800 calories split up over 24 hours, or eat it all at once, why would it be less work on my metabolism to burn the 1800 all at once? It wouldn't. If all foods are the equal, it takes the same amount of energy to burn up those 1800 calories no matter what the scenario.

I totally agree with this

I tried the 6 small meals a day. I ended up bingeing because I didn't get enough food in one meal to not be hungry. I'll stick with 2 big meals (600-800 cals) and 2 snacks and have a snail metabolism. Also, in for the inevitable dumpster fire.

Can You Make Your Metabolism Better?
Boosting metabolism is the holy grail of weight watchers everywhere, but how fast your body burns calories depends on several things. Some people inherit a speedy metabolism. Men tend to burn more calories than women, even while resting. And for most people, metabolism slows steadily after age 40. Although you can't control your age, gender, or genetics, there are other ways to improve your metabolism. Here are 10 of them.

What studies?
This study (by the ncbi says that multiple meals is a myth) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19943985
