Confused about new set up

I easily understood this app. Until it was recently changed. I don't understand what "net average" or calories is. Because that number does not change when I add in any exercise I do. Please help me to understand this better. Plus I liked how it used to show you, your average calorie intake for each week. Now I can't even see that on here anymore
